About Plastic Shims - 1/16 inch thick - 16 pieces
-
Plastic Structural Shimstacks (or shims) are U-shaped shims with a convenient installation tab that makes insertion and adjustment easy
-
With so many available shim sizes, they can be used to align windows, doors, curtain walls, storefront tubing and other architectural components
- Pack includes 16 plastic shims, which makes a total of a 1” stack of 1/16” thick shims
-
Each plastic shim is 1/16 inch thick, 3 1/2 inch long and 1 7/8 inch wide with a 5/8 inch slot in the middle
- Shims are adjustable in thickness by stacking, and in length by just snapping them apart for your desired shape
How to use Plastic Shims
- Identify the area where the shims will be used.
- Measure the width of the gap or distance that the surface needs to be adjusted.
- Based on Step 2, select a plastic shim that is slightly larger than the gap or adjustment needed.
- Insert the shim into the gap or place it under the surface that needs adjusting.
- Use a hammer to gently tap the shim into place until it's flush with the surrounding surfaces.
- Break off any excess shims based on the depth of the gap.
Repeat the process as needed until the gap is filled or the surface is level.
If necessary, use a caulking or sealant to seal around the shim to prevent drafts or water infiltration.
Note: Plastic shims are suitable for interior use only, and should not be used in exterior or load-bearing applications.
