Description
Made of tempered steel, each nailess sawtooth has two pronged "legs" that enable it to be attached to a wood picture frame without screws or nails. The hardened finish allows the hanger to be hammered into position without deforming.
Nailess Sawtooth Hangers install very quickly--an important advantage if you have a lot of frames to hang. Except for very hard woods like oak or ash, pilot holes are usually not necessary.
Instruction
- Lay the frame face down on a blanket or soft surface.
- The hanger should be installed centered left-to-right on the top rail, a little down from the upper edge of the frame.
- The large sawtooth has one serrated edge which should face down.
- Use a small hammer to tap the nailess sawtooth hanger in place.
- Take care not to break the glass on the frame, if any, when hammering in a nailess sawtooth hanger.
- In extremely hard woods, drill small pilot holes for the legs of the hanger.
- When properly seated, the shoulders of a nailess hanger should rest on the surface of the frame rail, leaving approximately 1/8" gap between the back of the hanger and the surface of the rail.
- Make sure that your nail in the wall is tight and secure before using it to hang the frame. Always use a headed nail (not a brad) and position the frame on the nail so that the nail is caught firmly on the sawtooth hanger.
